Comments Thread For: Collazo's Coach: This Will Not Be Easy For Keith Thurman

Former world welterweight champion Luis Collazo is in Puerto Rico preparing for what may be the final high profile opportunity of his career - unless he wins. Collazo is going to challenge WBA 'regular' champion Keith Thurman (25-0, 21KOs) on July 11. The fight will headline the debut of Premier Boxing Champions on ESPN.

In 2014, Collazo (36-6, 19 KO) had two fights. First he knocked out Victor Ortiz in two rounds and then lost to Amir Khan by unanimous decision. In April, Collazo beat unheralded Christopher Degollado in two rounds.

Feel a little bad for Collazo, he's looking for an avenue back into the sport and there are guys like Alexander, Garcia, Malignaggi etc who he could potentially be competitive against. Instead he gets Thurman, who I think is going to eff him up and end his career.

sometimes Thurman is a little wide when he throws combos, Collazo is not bad at counters, i'm not picking Collazo but in boxing you just never know

If it isn't easy for Thurman, than he has a lot of improving to do because that would be really bad. This better be easy.

Khan dropped him 3 times and won every round

Thurman will have to TKO to one up Khan

Which i think he will do

Thurman will retire Collazo. I don't think Collazo will want to fight again after this fight. Thurman has already handed out a couple of retirements to former champs, Julio Diaz and Carlos Quintana.
