Comments Thread For: Jermain Taylor Appears in Court, Blames Mental Illness

Jermain Taylor is adamant he's NOT a criminal -- and blames his recent string of bizarre and troubling behavior on mental illness.

Taylor appeared in an Arkansas courtroom moments ago in connection with an incident at an MLK Day parade earlier this year in which he allegedly pulled a gun on a family and fired multiple shots.

The former IBF middleweight champ pled not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect ... and his attorney requested that the boxer undergo another mental evaluation.

Another mother in denial, I hope the judge tells the mom, if we let Jermain out will you take responsibility for him if he kills someone? She is vouching for her son, they need to really put these parents on blast for real.

She is crazy, of course she will say he is a good guy that is her son, but I seen some really good parents who refuse to baby their kids when they do wrong and tell them they need help and can't defend their actions.

Jermain clearly has mental illness, he also is a drug user making it worse. He might have been a good boy 7 years ago, but not anymore.

They need to put him in a mental institute where they can help him, he needs to be locked up for a while in a home this guy is a ticking time bomb, his mom will just let him do what he pleases, he left loaded guns lying around his house for crying out loud with kids walking around, he threatened to kill a woman and her child because they accidentally dropped his championship belt, he shot up his cousin and almost killed him, he beat up some dude in rehab just because the guy was trying to be friendly and shake his hand.

He was dancing like a crack head weirdo in public. What more do you need? The guy might turn into another Ediwn Valero.

He's passed the point of no return. He needs to be sedated 24/7.

His mother isn't in denial. She's watching her child's life unravel and knows that he has little to no control over what's taking place. And very little to none of it is his fault. Whether you're a parent or not, don't see how one doesn't sympathize with her.

Put that mental miget in the loony bin with padded walls and throw a straight jacket on him. He is not mentally fit to be free. Or how about shock therapy to fix his brain. So what if he becomes a drooller afterwards, at least he would be safe after.
