Comments Thread For: Hearn Confident: Floyd Mayweather Will Not Fight Khan

From a business perspective, promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport is confident WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs) will not fight Amir Khan (30-3, 19KOs) on September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Khan returns later tonight, when he battles former WBO junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri in a Spike TV televised main event, as part of the Premier Boxing Champions series.

definitely the best news I've heard all day, just goes to show that hard work pays off and fighting dummys doesn't, good lesson for Khan for cherry picking and for not fighting the fight everybody wanted to see against Brook! The man hasn't fought a top 10 welterweight yet and he wants to fight the number one guy, hell i'd even question his eligibility to fight Brook for the title and Brook was all for a fight and Khan said no. Had Khan beaten Brook in England for the IBF title I would've been among the millions of fans demanding a Khan vs Mayweather fight, it would've been his chance to get a lot of exposure and a fight with Floyd would've been much bigger after that, wtf does fighting Chris Algieri do to Khan or to his stock as a fighter? NOTHING! Algieri is coming off a loss where he got humiliated and knocked down 6 times by the guy Floyd beat easily, he's a nutritionist that missed weight for the biggest fight of his career, his biggest win is against Ruslan C+ level Provodnikov where he won by 1 point. WTF was Khan thinking taking this dumbass fight, hell if he would've fought Broner and beaten him he would've had an argument, but this guy tried to force his way into the biggets pay day possible and it would be a sad state of affairs if he gets it, it's just not fair for the other welterweights.

He doesn't have many options. Thurman is fighting in July, Cotto is set to fight Canelo, Garcia is rumoured to be fighting in August etc.

The best available options are; Khan, Brook and Broner-Porter winner. I would assume Haymon would rather one of his own fighters get the shot.
