Comments Thread For: Jessie Vargas Hires Erik Morales as Trainer, Jones is Out

Earlier today former WBA super lightweight champion Jessie Vargas took to his Twitter page to announce that he would now be training under the guidance of Mexican legend Erik "El Terrible" Morales. He had previously been trained by another legend, Roy Jones Jr.

Vargas said that he has always been impressed with Morales and feels that his training methods will serve him well.

Interesting. Roy did an interview recently where he made it seem like things were going well with Jesse. Seems like an awfully late switch. I don't think you can go against Tim Bradley without sharp focus and jumping trainers isn't conducive toward that. Too bad because I was looking forward to a good challenge and this takes away from Jesse's chances, IMO.

Roy is just way to busy right now. Good move.

Memo already has Jessie in beast mode so this really isn't a big deal.

Does Vargas speak or understand Spanish?

Yup, Robert Alcazar was training him for a good while.

                    Don't like this move.
I though he was doing well with Roy Jones in his corner and who knows how he would do with Morales in his corner.

Not a good move weeks before you have the biggest fight in your career.
