  • Comments Thread For: Mitchell Drops Booze, in Top Form For Linares Shot

London’s Kevin Mitchell has revealed that alcohol has been the toughest opponent of his boxing career thus far, but he has KO’d the demon drink in a bid to ensure that his world title dream finally comes true.

Mitchell, 39-2 (29), faces Jorge Linares, 38-3 (25), for the WBC lightweight title at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday night; the Eddie Hearn-promoted bill will be shown live on Sky Sports Box Office and Mitchell intends to show boxing fans that he is a different fighter from the one who lost his previous two world title attempts—TKO 3 again Michael Katsidis and TKO 4 versus Ricky Burns in 2010 and 2012 respectively.

It's good that he's dropped booze.

But he's going to get dropped and be staggering around like a drunk on Saturday night.

This is a shootout, both got shaky chins, both hit hard, Linares also has skin that cuts easily, can't see this going the distance, i got Linares after dropping Kevin 2 or 3 times in the first 6 rounds, Linares getting stopped would not be a shocker though.

Most people writing of K Mitchell. The way he performed last fight leads me to believe Mitchell is going to pitch a shut out.

I think he destroys Ricky Burns in a rematch. He's been an underachiever for his career, but now he has a great shot to turn it around.

Who did he fight in his last fight? Mitchell performs at a certain level. Linares is a whole new level and he won't be able to deal with it.

I think so too, linares is too stiff, he cant duck or roll with punches, especially right hooks.

A bit torn by this, I ****ing love both fights and don't want to see either of them lose.

Not an easy fight for either guy, but completely winnable for Mitchell. It's been proven that pressure can crack the perfect boxing of Linares. And Kevin knows this is his last shot.

I have a feeling this fight will be something special.
