  • Comments Thread For: Khan Denies He's Looking Ahead To Mayweather Tilt

Amir Khan says he isn’t thinking about a potential fight with Floyd Mayweather and insists he is focused entirely on taking on Chris Algieri in New York on Friday night.

Khan has been tipped to be the next opponent for pound-for-pound king Mayweather after the undefeated welterweight beat Manny Pacquiao earlier this month in Las Vegas.

The Bolton fighter believed he had a fight lined up with Mayweather last year only for the American to take on Marcos Maidana and then hand the Argentinian a rematch before facing Pacquiao.

Despite the talk, the former two-time world champion insists he is thinking only about Algieri.

Even when he's not talking about Mayweather, he is talking about Mayweather.

It is hard to look past your opponent, when your opponent is a challenge.

Khan is absolutely looking past Algieri.

And, Khan will outclass Algieri, and possibly stop him, as planned.

He is. He knows what this means.

            Had it for Garcia..KO

Had it for Peterson...lost decision. Though i thought he won. Close fight not mad at decision.

Had it for Alexander...passed on fight, thought it was his, won the vote, but Maidana was the "hotter" fighter.

Look good and he will be considered, SHINE and dream fight is his.

Its time the kid got his shot. WARKhan!!! C

not how this guy is even in a conversation to fight mayweather. he has'nt done nothing in the welter weight divison to warrant that fight. he skips pass proven WW coming off wins like brook whose a champion, berto, porter, ortiz, thurman, and broner,to fight a jr middle coming off a loss.

Khan was in talks with Brook and Broner, but Brook demanded a June fight even though that's when Ramadan starts, while Broner demanded a catch-weight bout, so he turned them both down. And then they both tried to blame it on Khan even though they were the ones making unreasonable demands.

Thurman's schedule didn't match Khan's schedule, so that was off the table. As for Berto, Porter, and Ortiz, they aren't anymore deserving than Algieri is, at this point. Porter, maybe, but definitely not Berto or Ortiz.
