  • Comments Thread For: DeGale-Dirrell on PBC Sees Minor Overnight Rating Dip

The Saturday afternoon debut of PBC (Premier Boxing Champions) on NBC from May 23 saw a marginal dip in ratings from a similarly aired edition on CBS earlier this month.

The live card from Boston—which saw James ‘Chunky’ DeGale score a unanimous decision over Andre Dirrell—drew a 0.85 overnight rating according to Nielsen Media Research. Such numbers generally trend upwards for sporting events, as final Nielsen numbers will not be made available until Wednesday morning due to the holiday weekend.

This is not a good sign. Hopefully, Haymon will wake up and make the best fights possible. Enough with the Collazo versus Thurman and Broner versus Porter catch weight crap. Next fights: Thurman Floyd, Povetkin Wilder, Stevenson Kovelev

If he would just do that or be willing to work with Golden Boy and Top Rank, the boxing world would be in great shape. But he won't because he's a grade A son of a b*tch.

AL can thank his cash cow Floyd Mayweather for his negative fighting style in that crucial fight against Pacquiao and turning America and another generation of boxing fans off.

Those are weak numbers. And across the boards NBC, SPIKE, ect the PBC shows are dropping in ratings. Not a good sign add that to the fact that they have not been able to get any TV sponsor's to help pay for all this. PBC investor's are losing a ton of money each event they have to pay the inflated fight purses, pay the production and promotion, then pay the networks just to air it. And they are not making money at the gate the fight this weekend a day before the fight had half tickets still on sale. They are giving tickets away for free and still not packing the joint.

Please tell us what fights Top Rank and Golden Boy have scheduled and how those fights are better than the ones we are seeing on PBC?

I swear it seems like all the Special Ed teachers in America gave their classes an assignment to come on this message board and post as much nonsense as they can.

If you clowns don't like the product, don't watch it, but stop coming on this message board making all these asinine comments after ever PBC fight as if you are a fu.....g expert about the PBC, Al Haymon and his investors money.:*******:

Look the Haymon groupies are upset because I stated a fact. PBC has now been on multiple times on these networks and the fact is the ratings are falling from where they started. Because of that PBC has not gotten any TV sponsors to jump on board which is why they mainly just run promos for the next PBC event instead of actual commercials. Not a good sign when ratings trending down and they never started high in the first place despite the ridiculous amount of spending. right now is nothing more then an expensive infomercial that is losing multi million dollars every event. If the ratings don't pick up and if they don't get TV sponsors to help recoup their losses then PBC will fold. And that's not even counting the lawsuit Golden Boy filed against Haymon and his investors. What investors would be happy with losing money at this rate and being dragged into a lawsuit? Haymon better start making better fights because khan vs algeri and Thurman vs Collazo won't cut it.

It's a tough sport (like all others) to attract new fans to . So hopefully PBC's success/failure isn't predicated on bringing new interest into the sport . If it is then God help us ! On a side note Ratings r such a tricky thing , with digital cable boxes in most homes do u still need a Nielsen box in certain homes to gauge what Americas watching ? If so it's a shady ratings system at best as I've NEVER known anyone to have one in there home rich , poor or middle class .
