In the televised opener, 22-year old Jr. Lightweight Adrian Young (22-1, 18 KO) of Los Mochia, Sinaloa, Mexico, held off a spirited effort from an inexperienced foe, rallying from a bruising ninth to score a stoppage in the closing seconds of the tenth and final round over Marco Antonio Juarez (8-4-1, 3 KO) of Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico. The referee was Julio Cesar Mariscal.
Well behind, Juarez kept plugging away, punching with Young as the rounds ticked by and swelling his left eye. In the ninth, Juarez hurt Young to the body and had him on the back foot.
