Comments Thread For: Photos: Alexander Povetkin Crushes Perez in 91 Seconds

Alexander Povetkin knocked out Mike Perez in the first round in Moscow on Friday night to move closer to a heavyweight title fight.

The Russian won inside the distance for the 21st time in 30 professional fights, finishing the elimination bout in 91 seconds.

He can now challenge the winner of the fight between WBC champion Deontay Wilder and Eric Molina who meet on June 13.

The 35-year-old Povetkin, the 2004 Olympic Games heavyweight champion, improved his professional record to 29-1 and again showed the power that makes him a dangerous challenger.

Povetkin will annihilate the overrated bum Wilder.

            Hopefully the Klitschko-Povetkin rematch happens.

I agree Povetkin > Wilder but I'm not sure I ever want to see a Povetkin-Klitschko rematch.

Might be better if Wlad retires at 40 which forces Povetkin, Fury, Wilder, Pulev, Joshua, Jennings etc to all fight each other.

Plus a few interesting inactives like Haye and Helenius who would probably get their **** together if the lineal title was up for grabs, HW would be an awesome division

Just because Povetkin beat a mentally shot Perez doesn't mean he's now going to destroy Wilder. Far from it. Wilder would have done the same thing to Perez, and just as easy. Don't forget Alexander barely beat Marco Huck and lots of people thought Huck won that fight.

I would still favor Wilder over Povetkin because Wilder has height, reach, and if he fights him on the outside will win a decision or stop him late.

I do, however, agree that it's a dangerous fight for BOTH men.

                Piece.

The Klitschko vs. Povetkin Hugfest II has been canceled!

Fury outworks the old Ukrainian, pummeling him around the ring for twelve rounds. And Wilder's right hand leaves Povetkin on the canvas dreaming he's in a hot tub full of Corona girls.

Wilder vs. Fury: The Undisputed Heavyweight Championship of the World. Coming soon to the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, live on Pay Per View.

This is a very likely scenario...
