Comments Thread For: Frank Warren on Golovkin, Khan-Algieri, DeGale

Thankfully the days are gone when British boxers who travelled to the United States either got mugged in the ring by American opponents or robbed outside it by the judges.

America is not the hostile territory it once was for our champions and contenders, who now seem to win there more often than they lose.

Years ago defeat was the norm for Brits who made the journey, such as middleweight champions Randolph Turpin and Terry Downes who won their titles here but came back from the US as losers after their respective return bouts against Sugar Ray Robinson and Paul Pender.

I had to laugh when I read how Warriors Boxing bid $3.1mill on Dirrell/DeGale. If I would've read that line 2 years ago I would've thought it was a misprint. If GB needs any more ammunition for their court case vs Haymon there it is.

sounds like Warren reads too much into the media hype instead of how fighters are rated by the opposition they beat. As for the shady decisions in the US, ive always thought it was the other way around with US fighters getn jobbed over there. As for GGG getn a strong push, look at all the Champions in every division and look at their skin color..HBOs trying to push a "Great White Hope" its clear. We can pretend HBOs not doing that but theyre aiming for a demographic.

I suspect triple G, Is taking more chances because he doesn't think the current fighters he's fought can hurt him. It also makes him look vulnerable to fighters watching. I would think he would fight different if it was a real serious contender such as Canelo, Froch etc.
