  • Comments Thread For: Deontay Wilder: I Look Forward To Facing Povetkin

Alexander Povetkin knocked out Mike Perez in the first round in Moscow on Friday night to move closer to a heavyweight title fight. The Russian won inside the distance for the 21st time in 30 professional fights, finishing the elimination bout in 91 seconds.

He is now the mandatory challenger to the winner of the fight between WBC champion Deontay Wilder and Eric Molina who meet on June 13.

The 35-year-old Povetkin, the 2004 Olympic Games heavyweight champion, improved his professional record to 29-1 and again showed the power that makes him a dangerous challenger.

How many times did Klitschko knock him down. 4. That is the exact number of rounds this fight will end in. Wilder by 4th round KO.

Wilder just has to box that mu'fucka.

Should be a great fight and if Wilder gets hit by an overhand right lets see what happens. Vice versa.

He knows how to box. FFS He won a Bronze Medal. And he boxed well against Stiverne.

That would be impressive. Especially since post Wlad Povetkin looks like a better fighter.

Big step up for Wilder. Plus he'll probably have to travel to Russia.

            Interesting fight.

NOT A CHANCE. Wilder is not that good. Period. Not good at all.

I was a little surprised that night. He kept his composure for all 12 rounds. He just needs to do that again, but Povetkin himself won a Gold Medal and is certain to be a dangerous puncher. Question is if and how often can he reach Wilder?
