  • Comments Thread For: Dirrell: When I Get in The Ring, It's Ass Kicking Time!

As previously reported, James DeGale believes he is 'destined' to become a world champion by beating Andre Dirrell this weekend. DeGale takes on Dirrell for the vacant IBF world title in Boston on May 23, live on Sky Sports, and he wants to add a world championship title to his Olympic gold medal from Beijing in 2008. He would become the first British boxer to achieve such a feat.

Dirrell (25-1, 16 KOs), who won an Olympic bronze in Athens in 2004, has never been a world champion and lost a split decision to Carl Froch in Nottingham in 2009. And DeGale is adamant that he will make history this weekend - Dirrell is confident he will take him to school.

since Dirrell took 4 years off for a headache

Dirrell cannot sell a ticket in America. Dirrell is hated in America and despised. Dirrell has the worst trainer in boxing in gran pappy the plantation field hand who is 100 yrs old. Dirrell does have haymon though. Dirrell has no career anyway. A Dirrell loss would cheer up all of America.

Dirrel has a lot of bluster but behind it lies real confidence issues. This guy has the physical talent to be a special fighter, it remains to be seen if he can develop the self belief that's also needed.

Wow, quite a bit of hate and venom there. Dirrell has had some missteps, even a blind man can see that BUT Dirrell is a powerhouse of talent IF he and his handlers can put the complete package together.

Like Floyd's fight with Pacquaio, Dirrell ran from Curtis Stevens and still managed to get the victory. Since then he has settled down on his punches. He was robbed against Froch and only a spineless coward hater would say otherwise. He CLEARLY dominated Arthur Abraham and was fouled out of pure frustration by Arthur regardless if people feel he was taking a page out of the NBA and flopping.

So I completely disagree with you, it's not too late for Dirrell to have a large and loyal fan base in America or anywhere else in the world for that matter BUT and that's a BIG BUT, he can't afford anymore missteps from here on out.

But feel free to keep hating, that's what armchair experts like you at this site do best

100 years old and he works as both a trainer and a field hand? That's pretty bad-ass. I hope I'm still physically healthy when I'm that age.

Dirrell will start strong, then try to avoid getting hurt once he understand he's outgunned. I doubt it'll be an early finish though... Dirrell knows how to run and survive. I anticipate a 4 round margin to DeGale that Dirrell will contest while he picks up the pieces of his shattered career.
