  • Comments Thread For: Jose Ramirez Creates Scholarship Fund in Fresno

Fresno, California - USA Olympian, NABF champion and undefeated professional boxer Jose Ramirez (14-0, 11 KOs), coming off a record setting 9,000 person arena sellout on May 9 in Fresno on a Top Rank Solo Boxeo Tecate boxing event on UniMas, has signed a five figure endorsement deal with Card City. Ramirez is now setting up a scholarship f und at Fresno State to help future students.

"There is no place like home and I am honored to have gotten the deal I did with Card City. I feel it is important to help future students as well by setting up a scholarship fund which my team will build as time goes on," Ramirez said. [Click Here To Read More]

Ramirez already has an endorsement deal with Tachi Palace, a local hotel and casino.

Add in this endorsement deal and the huge crowds he's drawing in Fresno and it looks like he's being brought along very well.

It's great that Ramirez set that up at CSUF and the fact he has sold out Selland Arena three straight fights is a testament to him and how Top Rank has brought him along and now with Freddie Roach in his corner he looks to be on the rise. Also to put the sellout in perspective I saw Floyd at Selland after the second JL Castillo fight and already a P4P guy didn't sell out the arena about 7000. Goes to show you why bringing a young fighter up in his home area can be a great way to build him as a draw like Crawford in Omaha.

He's also sponsored by Nike, Wonderful Pistacchios, Dodge and Beats By Dre, as well as several other smaller companies. Nobody else in boxing is getting that many big endorsement deals except for Pacquiao.

I had no idea he had that many, but looking it up, he has a LOT of endorsements.

Brand friendly Ramirez currently is one of the most endorsed boxers in the history of the sport having already worked with brands such as Wonderful Pistachios, McDonalds, Discover, Aqua Hydrate, 2XU, Beats by Dre, 9Five, Granville Homes, Repp Maxx, and countless others. Ramirez has hosted and appeared on five ESPN shows and remains the youngest fighter ever to host or commentate on ESPN's Friday Night Fights. Earlier this year, Top Rank announced Nike's partnership with Jose Ramirez to wear their apparel and footwear, landing him yet another top-tier alliance. Coming off his most recent victory over Christopher Williams, Ramirez improves to (4-0) with 3KO's on the pro boxing circuit. Among his impressive titles, Ramirez has captured U.S. Olympic Team Trials Champion (2012), National Champion (2010-11), Junior Olympic National Champion (2010-11) and USA Boxing National Champion (2011).
I think the kid looks like he's going to be a star.

People aren't really talking about him yet because he's only been fighting in Fresno on UniMas cards, but I think he's going get big very quickly.

Ramirez's schedule, according to Dan Rafael:

Fight in July 18th on the Macau card (no HBO2, perhaps same-day tape delay on UniMas), and then fights at the Selland in September and November:

Blue chip junior welterweight prospect Jose Ramirez (14-0, 11 KOs), the 22-year old 2012 U.S. Olympian from Avenal, California, is also scheduled to appear on the card in Macau against an opponent to be determined.
Although Ramirez has yet to face a top opponent as he climbs the professional boxing ladder, he has become a major attraction in his home region, drawing crowds of 10,000 to the Selland Arena in Fresno. Ramirez is due to fight there in September and November, Arum said, but he wanted to give him "an opportunity to fight abroad" and added him to the card in Macau.
He said some of the bouts will be carried in the United States on same-day tape delay by Spanish-language network UniMas as part of Top Rank's "Solo Boxeo Tecate" series.
