Comments Thread For: Monroe Feels He's Destined To Shock Gennady Golovkin

Willie Monroe Jr has vowed to bring Gennady Golovkin's unbeaten run to an end when the pair clash in a middleweight world title fight in California this weekend.

Monroe Jr heads into the fight against knockout specialist 'Triple G' as a massive underdog, with no fighter lasting the distance with the Kazakh for almost seven years.

But Monroe Jr is the great nephew of Willie "The Worm" Monroe, one of only three men to defeat 'Marvelous' Marvin Hagler in the legendary middleweight's 67-fight career.

And the latest in the line of fighting Monroes believes it is his destiny to become middleweight champion of the world. [Click Here To Read More]

Yeah, a loss for Golovkin is not happening (even if it were close, there's money to be made so someone would make sure the scores would favour him), but I want to see that KO streak ended. It'd make for a good talking point if he finally couldn't get someone out of there. The "fearsome" aspect would be diminished ever so slightly.

With that said, I don't want to see a MW version of Froch-Dirrell either. We do risk seeing that, right?

For his own destiny GGG will walk into Monroe's shots to get that selling KO.

Is Monroe thinking of having a Taser built into his gloves or something? That's about the only way he could shock GGG.

I did have a dream the other night where I saw Golovkin on the floor - strange - I never dream about boxing. For the record I'm a GGG follower but not a fan-atic. I can see Monroe bloodying G's face tomorrow but if Vera can land so will GGG.

Monroe's best chance is to stay in constant motion, keep your feet moving, dance and run. The moment he stops, he gets cornered and finished. As long as he stays on the bike, he can outbox GGG. If i'm him I want a giant ring.

I've got a feeling Monroe has packed all that extra muscle on for his clinching plan. That would be a mistake. He needs to be running and pot shotting for 12 rounds just as Lara did with Canelo, just engage a little bit more than Lara.
