Comments Thread For: Canelo Alvarez-James Kirkland: Post-Fight Report Card

For every fighter, there is a window. It might be a decade. It might be a few years.

That window, sometimes called ‘prime’ is the amount of time a fighter has to maximize their abilities in the ring. Watching “Canelo” Alvarez take James Kirkland apart on Saturday, two thoughts came to mind:

Alvarez is in his window right now and making the most of it.

    Kirkland missed his window.

    Let’s go the report card.

cotto, no. GGG, absolutely. (at least at this point in canelos career). I dont see anyone beating golovkin between 154-160..Only real obstacle is Ward at 168.

Hopefully Cotto sacks up, that'd be an epic fight.

And as a GGG fan, would love it if no one mentioned his name until a credible fight opens up, just everyone should watch his filler fights and enjoy them but stop having the same arguments over and over. If the Cotto or Alvarez fights don't appear after those two clash (or don't clash) THEN he'll have to move up, but until then...

Cotto-Canelo would be a great fight. To me the only Chance GGG gets a shot at one of them would be If Canelo won. If and when Canelo GGG fight it would be an absolute war.

I would say that Canelo's power looked to be in the A+ ish range myself.

I believe that if Canelo is serious about fighting GGG then the fight can happen sooner rather than later (in other words, if Canelo wants to fight GGG, the fight can happen before the year is out - if Canelo wants to talk about fighting GGG - but not actually fight GGG - then the fight will not happen - just talk will happen and happen and happen and happen). So, what is it? Fight or talk?

Kirkland is a joke. He is great if you have a up and coming fighter that needs to look good. He will get in there and give the fans a toe to toe fight until he gets knocked out.

Who ever believed that Kirkland had more than a 2% chance to beat Canelo. Canelo is a B+ fighter and Kirkland is a D fighter. It does not matter who trains him?

Canelo gives Cotto the beating of his life before knocking him out. GGG seriously hurts Canelo. Cotto should retire soon. Canelo is the future at 154 to 160. GGG is the future at 160 and he can move up to 168.
