Comments Thread For: Jamie McDonnell Shocks Tomoki Kameda, Close Nod

State Farm Arena, Hidalgo, Texas - In a high paced contest, Jamie McDonnell (26-2-1, 12KOs) won a very close, razor-thin twelve round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Tomoki Kameda (31-1, 19KOs). All three judges had it 114-113. Kameda started strong in the early round, including a big overhand right that sent McDonnell down for the first time in his career. McDonnell was able to make many adjustment as the fight went along and the action became very close, round after round, with each fighter having their moments. McDonnell closed very strong in the twelfth round to seal his victory.

Surprised. The Boxing Scene experts were in a majority for Kameda to win. Only the Russian picked Jamie.

Well done lad. Only a half hour away from me. Up mighty Yorkshire.

Not shocked at all, McDonell was just being underestimated because he can't punch. It was a pretty entertaining fight too.

I feel Tomoki did enough to get the decision but it seems judges are more in love with quantity of punches compared to quality of punches.

Very close fight. Both fighters showed a lot of skill and were able to make adjustments. High IQ of boxing in that ring. Great fight.

I had Kameda edging it but I'm happy for McDonell. Damn, Al Haymon doesn't like Japanese Mexicans either
