  • Comments Thread For: Hasegawa Shocks Unbeaten Garcia In Landslide Win

Hozumi Hasegawa proved there is still plenty of air left in his tires, outpointing Horacio Garcia in a considerable upset Saturday evening in Kobe, Japan.

Not only did Hasegawa pull of the shocker, but did so in surprisingly one-sided fashion. Scores were 100-91, 98-93 and 97-93 in favor of the former two-division titlist. [Click Here To Read More]

Man, the hype Hasegawa was getting back in 2009-2010 was unreal; so many of you on BS were slobbering on his nuts. Then along came Montiel, who himself was mad hyped before being iced by Donaire, who then ran his own hype train until Rigondeaux adopted him as a son.

It was an interesting time then. I had high hopes for Hasegawa and Montiel destroyed him. I knew he'd be no match for Donaire, but didn't expect him to get destroyed easy as well. Such is the unpredictable nature of boxing. Glad to see Hasegawa with a win. Maybe a couple of more fights and he can hang them up. He doesn't seem to have the confidence he used to which can be bad for a fighter.

Indeed! From talking with one of the Mexicans here he said that Garcia was a decent fighter but with a bloated record.

Hasegawa spoke in the post fight interview that even Hasegawa himself didn't think he could win this fight!

That name sure brings back some memories and it wasn't even that long ago.

It's all good. Naoya got next up
