Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr.'s Coach Would Like To Get Him Back To 160

It was evident early on for Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. that he was simply too small at 172 pounds against Andrzej Fonfara. From the very onset of that fight at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, on April 18th, he was out-muscled and then out-fought in what became a one-sidded drubbing that saw him quit on his stool after getting floored in the ninth round.

But to his credit, he is already back in the gym and working again with Joe Goossen at the Ten Goose Gym in Van Nuys. And the veteran trainer clearly stated - "He will never fight in the '70's, again, I can tell you that."

I guess Chavez Jr is just trying different things and hoping something will stick.

Chavez won't be able to get to 160.
He's too undisciplined. For f*** sake for his biggest fight against Martinez he didn't even go to the gym. He trained in his living room!!!

Guy is a joke. Hope his next fight he fights in front of 100 people and gets his arse kicked again.

This trainer/fighter combo won't bear much fruit.

Chavez had a noticeable size advantage over Fonfara,he's just a horrible fighter he should take that 4 million as severance and retire before he gets seriously injured.

Assuming he can take the weight off and keep it off this would be a wise move. I think LHW was a mistake. I don't think he was necessarily an all star middleweight but probably not much better or worse than Cotto.
