Takashi Uchiyama and Jomthong Chuwatana both made weight for their junior lightweight title fight, Wednesday evening in Tokyo, Japan.

Uchiyama tipped the scales at 129.5 lbs. for the 11th defense of the title he won more than five years ago. Chawatana checked in at 129 lbs. for his first major title fight. [Click Here To Read More]

Chuwatana is such an unknown quantity. I hope Uchiyama scores a KO with ease though, i'm glad he's fighting at least twice this year.

Jomthong can't be underestimated. He is a 2 sport star. This could be Dangerous for Uchiyama.

I'm not sure what to think of him, i've only seen two of his fights (and that was in anticipation of this one)

He's a pretty quick southpaw with a pretty strong straight left. He also moves pretty well, which'll match up good against Uchiyama. Where his inexperience in boxing may hurt, i'm sure his experience in Muay Thai (as a fighter) may help him somewhat.

If we take into account that Uchiyama has been very inactive, only fighting once last year (New Years), and he's 35 at probably the tail end of his career (alongside being a slower fighter) its a big risk. I think this fight will look similar to the Vasquez fight, though I see Chuwatana being significantly harder to hit

I want Uchiyama to win just so we hopefully see a rematch of the Miura fight. Uchiyama won handily last time out, but Miura is still in his prime and looking very good lately while Uchiyama seems to have been on a gradual decline recently.

These fights with these unknown Muay Thai guys though can always be very tricky.

I remember when Sahaprom jumped in with only 3 fights to a title shot against 55-3 or something champ and kicked his ass. Seemed so surprised by it.

Same thing with Muangsurin. You just never know how good they are, despite their supposed lack of experience.
