Comments Thread For: Mayweather-Pacquiao Event Aligns With Kentucky Derby

NEW YORK (April 27, 2015) - Talk about a winning, knockout daily double! From the main event on horse racing's biggest day of the year to the main event of boxing's most anticipated matchup in decades, Saturday May 2, promises to be a fast-paced, hard-hitting and special day for sports fans around the world.

For the Kentucky Derby, the Mayweather-Pacquiao promotion has signed an exclusive sponsorship deal with Starlight Racing's "Itsaknockout." Just a few hours after the race for the roses, 11-time world champion Floyd "Money" Mayweather and eight-division world champion Manny "PacMan" Pacquiao will meet in a welterweight world championship bout that is expected to set new revenue records in virtually every category.

The sponsorship of "Itsaknockout," represents a convergence of leading en****** in their respective fields: Jack Wolf and Starlight Racing;seven-time Eclipse Award winning trainer Todd Pletcher at racing's most prestigious event; and boxing superstars Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, both of whom are destined for the boxing Hall of Fame; leading boxing promotional outfits Mayweather Promotions and Top Rank Inc.; co-producers SHOWTIME PPV® and HBO Pay-Per-View®; and boxing event's host, MGM Grand in Las Vegas. I said a month or so ago that I'd put a small bet on Itsaknockout (if he made it in) just because it's the same day as the fight. But that horse just isn't going to win. He may get up to close out the ass end of the tri/super, though.

At 40/1 or so, it'd be worth a $20 win bet, for the sweat.

Boxing fans around the world are worried that chicken Floyd might be riding his bike inside the ring on May 2nd. The great Congressman from the Philippines is not worried and confidently said "HE CAN RUN BUT HE CAN'T HIDE".

I hope this along with the NBA playoffs affect the PPV numbers.

The Cinco De Mayo fight is almost always the same day as the Kentucky Derby (which is always the first Saturday in May)... It sucks because I have to choose between going to derby parties and being ****faced by mid-afternoon with a bunch of rich girls, or watching what is usually the biggest boxing event of the year. Needless to say, it gets rougher every year making it to the main event.
