  • Comments Thread For: Mayweather, Roach Differ on The Worth of Alex Ariza

During the pre-fight promotion, strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza was often a topic of discussion for Saturday's mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Ariza had worked with Pacquiao for several years, until the Filipino star's trainer Freddie Roach fired him in 2012. Roach has since hired back Pacquiao's original conditioning coach, Justin Fortune.

Earlier this year, Ariza started working with Mayweather, who believes the coach played a very important role in Pacquiao's run of success (at least for the five years when they were working together).

Freddie is really worried about this fight . the closer it gets more vocal he gets about everything . Freddie will take the loss far worse than anybody .

Ariza was stealing Roach's spotlight. He wants all the attention on him.

Would everyone shut the **** up about the shakes. Look i don't know whether Manny was using PED's or not, but i do know a fair bit about PED's and anyone who does knows the idea of this shake is asinine. If multi millionare and elite athlete Manny Pacquiao was using he's going to be using injectables or pharmaceutical grade oral steroids in tablet form. Not generic powdered **** that he drinks during training. There's no benefit to using literally during training, chances are either bcaa's, or protein, or creatine, or a pre-workout concotion. Roach was jjst thoughtlessly trying to trash talk Ariza.

if ariza was worth anything to anyone he wouldn't keep getting fired... dunno what else there is to say

Floyd took him on for the same reason he ringwalked in a sombrero. He just has a peculiar sense of humor.

Pacquiao should have listened to kontz and fired roach years ago. Manny has stated many times that he views roqch as a father figure and what dies roach do in return? Makes up lies to hurt Ariza but also hurting pacquiao in the process. The biggest reason I dont believe the story is because Manny has looked virtually the same and has been just as much if not more ripped in his recent fights than when he was supposedly using peds. If he stopped taking peds all of a sudden, his body fat percentage would have increased substantially especially as he got older which there is no proof of in any pictures I can find
