  • Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr. Wants June/July Bout, Eyes Murray, Macklin

Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is already looking to the future and wants to return very soon, on a date in June or July. Less than two weeks ago, Chavez moved up by nearly two weight divisions and was stopped after nine rounds by light heavyweight contender Andrzej Fonfara at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Chavez (48-2-1, 32KOs), who says Fonfara was too big for him, is planning to move down to the super middleweight division limit of 168-pounds. Two possible opponents mentioned by Chavez are Martin Murray and Matthew Macklin.

WAR CHAVEZ!!!!!!! We're still with you bro. These dumbos dont realize you faced the #4 ranked LHW in a division you had never fought at before after a 14 month layoff... when you could have fought smaller/lesser opposition for the same amount of money and KOd them for an easy look good comeback fight. Keep rolling! I respect you for seeking a tough fight like a man and not cherrypicking like that ***** son of a bish piece of **** ****** Andrea coWard.

Chavez should just go to 168 and fight bika, groves, maybe even abraham/Stieglitz/sturm

He can't make 160 but he wants to fight middleweights with a 25 pound advantage, he can't beat credible light heavies even though his size is a light heavy. Hmm...why not fight guys at super middle?

Murray would box his ears off. Macklin would have a great shot as well.
