  • Comments Thread For: Mayweather-Pacquiao: Leo Santa Cruz Faces Cayetano

Sources in Mexico are stating that WBC super bantamweight champion Leo Santa Cruz (29-0-1, 17KOs) will face Jose Cayetano (17-3, 8KOs) as part of the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao pay-per-view undercard on May 2nd from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The fight is a non-title encounter.

Cayetano is coming in on short notice after other potential opponents fell through. He was last in action in February, losing a ten round decision to Enrique Bernache. Cayetano has never fought outside of Mexico and he has never been stopped.

Leo Santa Cruz is a lock to win the Cab Drivers Association of America Man Of The Year award for 2015.

This guy's last 3 opponents are mind-boggling. Especially when you consider that he wasn't coming off a loss or inactivity.

How he's co-main eventing the 2nd straight Mayweather PPV vs. a bum that isn't even ranked in the top 100 by BoxRec is astonishing.

I usually find something on an undercard that appeals to me, but there'll be nothing on this one. Ah who cares, though. We've got THE FIGHT already, so after it's done boxing will return to normal. Plenty more good stuff later in the year.

And from the looks of it, historically, the biggest superfights always have nothing undercards. Mayweather-De La Hoya had a shitty undercard, and Lewis-Tyson was nothing to shout about; although it did feature a young Pacquiao.

As for Lea Panty Cruz, I stopped watching his fights almost 2 years ago. He's just not interesting anymore, unless there's someone with a pulse facing him. Plus I just can't stand looking at that dumbass smile of his.
