  • Comments Thread For: Gilberto Ramirez-Dereck Edwards, June 12 on TruTV

World ranked super middleweight contender Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez (31-0, 24 KOs) will return on June 12th, at a venue to be determined, against Derek Edwards (27-4-1, 14 KOs). Ramirez vs. Edwards will be broadcast live in the United States by TruTV.

The Mexican boxer was last seen in January, when he picked up a unanimous decision win over Russian fighter Maxim Vlasov.

Edwards has extensive experience against some of the very best. He's faced current WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson, former world title contender Matt Korobov and former world champion Andre Dirrell. Some remember Edwards for last year's shocking upset stoppage over previously undefeated Badou Jack, who now has an upcoming title fight with WBC super middleweight ruler Anthony Dirrell.

Yea he didn't look too good in his last fight either.

Top Rank's gonna feed him cupcakes till he gets an undeserved title shot.

Edwards can really expose a guy if he is really not the goods and feasting on soft comp.

He has talent but is something of a front runner.

I don't see what the problem is with the opponent. Errol Spence gets fed a steady ****** of cupcakes and I never read any complaints about that, . And Spence is two years older than Ramirez and hyped through the roof.

As long as fighters are under 25 years old and don't hold any titles they should move at their own pace.
