Comments Thread For: Andy Lee: A Peter Quillin Rematch Should Be in Ireland

Irishman Andy Lee bravely fought back from two early knockdowns to salvage an unlikely draw with Peter Quillin in an entertaining non-title fight in Brooklyn, New York, on Saturday.

Lee was down in the first and third rounds but recovered superbly and the unbeaten Quillin was knocked down himself before tiring in the closing stages.

Judge Guido Cavalleri handed Lee the verdict by 113-112, giving the Irishman six of the last seven rounds, while judge Eric Marlinski had it 113-112 for Quillin, and Glenn Feldman had it a 113-113 draw.

If you're champion still, it should.

The fight was awkward and uneventful. No need for an immediate rematch. Let Lee go on to fight GGG or BJS and Quillin fight Lemeuix after he KO's N'dam.

It'll go where the money brings it.

Quillin won't fight Lee in Ireland. He won't get paid enough, and he doesn't want the belt enough to take that risk.

I would say where the money is right is where it should be. New York does seem logical because both guys have fought there quite a bit.

Screw the rematch. Let Lee fight his mandatory against Saunders and the winner take on GGG. Let Quillin move up to SMW where he will be able to make weight and fight the Dirrells or Chavez Jr. or one of Haymon's other guys at that weight. I have no interest in seeing another snooze fest where two fighters are afraid to throw punches.

If Lee wins.... Dunno if he fights GGG, especially with Lou in his corner.

If Saunders win, he goes two Eubank Jnr.

                  WBO out of grasp

I had it 112 - 111 Lee.......I could see a couple of swing rounds so I could see a draw or win for Quillen winning being likely.....but bot decisive.
