Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York - Danny Garcia (30-0, 17KOs) won a twelve round majority nod over Lamont Peterson (33-3-1, 17KOs). The scores were 114-114 a draw, 115-113, 115-113 for Garcia. Between the two of them, they hold three junior welterweight titles, but the fight took place at a catch-weight of 143-pounds. The IBF promised to strip Peterson if he lost the fight.

Peterson was using a lot of movement during the first half of the contest and forcing Garcia to give chase and miss often. At the same time, Peterson was not landing often and allowing Garcia to push the entire pace of the fight. Peterson would land a decent jab, but with very little power behind it.
