  • Comments Thread For: Roy Jones: Mayweather Needs To KO Pacquiao To Win!

Former four division champion Roy Jones Jr. is not only picking Manny Pacquiao to win a twelve round decision on May 2nd, he says Floyd Mayweather Jr. will need a knockout in order to walk away with the WBC/WBA/WBO welterweight titles at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Jones believes the fight will be close and the judges will ultimately side with the Filipino star.

"Honestly, the fact that its happening is the best thing for us. It could have not happened at all. So now we got it lets be happy and savor the moment," Jones said on ESPN's Sports Center. "I say it's great."

It's in the best interest of both fighters to not let this get to the cards. I've said this since the fight was announced, if it goes to the judges somebody is getting shafted. A controversial result would only hype up a rematch, a draw would only hype up a rematch, Floyd taking a loss would only hype up a rematch, Pacquaio being jacked by scorecards would only hype up a rematch. Too many people have a lot to gain by turning this into more than a single fight. It's vegas after all.

Roy saying what I've been saying for years. Its hard to KO Manny. Ppl let the JMM KO fool them. Before that KO, Manny was KO when he was 16 0r 17yrs old. We all know since the first Morales fight, he's pretty much won every round in every fight.

His last KO before the JMM fight was when he was 20/21 years old, he wasn't as young as people claimed when he was knocked out a second time. I don't think the JMM knock out was a fluke at all, I think it exposed something. Guys haven't had the timing or the power to recreate that KO since but Mayweather is certainly the most capable of doing that.

If I had only a dollar to my name, I'd feel perfectly confident in betting it on that fact that there is no way this fight ends in a KO. This is going to the scorecards, and I genuinely don't see how people can predict Manny would win more than 5 rounds at most.

My gut tells me, this is going to be one of the best and worst things to happen to boxing. It's going to get the whole world to watch, talk about, and be wrapped up in the sport - and then it's going to not have the fireworks that casual fans crave seeing, and there will be no where to go because the last true Superfight will have been done until we can get two more stars to mega star level.

I'd LOVE to be wrong on any of these predictions, but that's absolutely how I see this unfolding.

Roy just backed up my postition, where is brickcity?
Pac's volume can offset Floyd's counters.
