Comments Thread For: Roach: Pacquiao's Legs The Difference With Mayweather

Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach is confident the legs of WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao will be the difference when he steps inside the ring with WBC/WBA king Floyd Mayweather Jr. in their long anticipated mega-fight on May 2nd from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

For over a year, Roach has been talking about the state of Mayweather's legs. He says Mayweather's legs are starting to go and that's why the unbeaten pound-for-pound king is starting to fight more often off the ropes - as he did in both fights against Marcos Maidana.

Pacquiao's legs have been cramping up in camp, but there is no concern from Roach who liked what he saw when Pacquiao dropped Chris Algieri six times in a very wide decision win last fall in Macau, China.

It may be a combination of his anticlimactic style and his supposedly shot legs making him look bad.

Watching the 2nd Maidana fight where Floyd tripped over his own legs, because he couldn't hop and skip to a Ali like rhythym anymore made him look old. Agree that Floyd's legs aren't the same, but they're still very very good.

I think his legs have gotten worse, I thought to myself during the first Maidana fight "maybe he did have an off night" but then I saw the rematch, he's just not the same.

Yeah, definitely not the same, but I don't think they're drastically worse. When he was dancing on the ropes, he looked good. Although, Maidana is a plodding b level fighter, so who knows.

Philippine media are reporting today that Freddie Roach is very disappointed with Manny's sparring so far.
