  • Comments Thread For: J. Mayweather: Ariza Knows Pacquiao's Flaws, History

Trainer Jeff Mayweather, uncle to WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26 KOs), views the addition of strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza as a positive boost to his nephew's camp.

Mayweather is training for his high stake unification with WBO champion Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Pacquiao had worked with Ariza for several years before he was fired by Manny's trainer, Freddie Roach.

Ariza came on board with Mayweather's team earlier this year. Most saw the move to hire Ariza as a pre-fight mind game by Mayweather, and even Jeff admits that he first believed his nephew was going in the direction.

Mind games surely, you'd be crazy to take Ariza's advice, I'd laugh so hard if he jumps in giving instructions in the corner like he used to do in Pac's.

I still cant wrap my brain around Floyd hiring Ariza after years of accusing Manny and saying Manny stopped having KO's after Ariza left.......oh but now Floyd has more power all of sudden....SMH

Dont be so narrow minded Rios is like a draught horse while Floyd is a Thoroughbred , which one do think would benefit from advanced training .

I agree. It's painfully obvious that Mayweather has the genetics to reap the benefits of Ariza Shakes exponentially more than Rios did.
