Trainer Jeff Mayweather, uncle to WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26 KOs), views the addition of strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza as a positive boost to his nephew's camp.
Mayweather is training for his high stake unification with WBO champion Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Pacquiao had worked with Ariza for several years before he was fired by Manny's trainer, Freddie Roach.
Ariza came on board with Mayweather's team earlier this year. Most saw the move to hire Ariza as a pre-fight mind game by Mayweather, and even Jeff admits that he first believed his nephew was going in the direction.
