Comments Thread For: Uchiyama-Chuwatana Confirmed For 5/6 in Tokyo

There won't be another year-long layoff for Takashi Uchiyama, which is a good thing since the 130 lb. division can use the activity at the top level.

The unbeaten long-reigning titlist returns to the ring on May 6, when he faces fellow undefeated junior lightweight Jomthong Chuwatana from Thailand at Ota-City General Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan. The bout will mark the fifth consecutive appearance at the venue for Uchiyama (22-0-1, 18KOs), who also attempts the 10th defense of the title he has held since 2010. [Click Here To Read More]

A decent fight and definitely a step-up from Uchiyama's last three fights. Chuwattana is only 9-0 but he's coming off a good win over Kaneko and is a muay thai standout.

Very tough test for KO dynamite who had been looking every bit of 35 in his last two outings.

Chuwatana beat Daiki Kaneko, who gave Uchiyama one of the toughest fights of his career, so we should be in for a good scrap. Still hoping "K.O. Dynamite" starts to fight bigger names like Orlando Salido, Francisco Vargas, and Yuriorkis Gamboa in the near future though. Or at least a unification rematch with Takashi Miura.
