Comments Thread For: Roach: Pacquiao Won't Fall For Mayweather's Traps

Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach was in the corner the last time Floyd Mayweather was involved in a supposed 'Fight of the Century', which was in 2007. Roach was the lead trainer for Oscar De La Hoya, who ended up losing a twelve round split decision to Mayweather.

But this experience in the opposite corner versus Mayweather is invaluable says Roach.

Roach gets a second chance on May 2nd, when Pacquiao faces Mayweather at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas - with the WBO/WBC/WBa welterweight titles at stake.

Easier said then done. Regardless, I don't think Manny should be doing to much thinking in the ring, and rely mostly on what got him there.

Its one thing to have sparring partners that mimick Floyd's style and there is no way in the world to have a sparring partners that think like Floyd does.

I get what Roach is saying but to say he is not falling for the traps in camps is just dumb.

JMM fell for them plenty in his fight with Floyd...nothing pac does indicates he won't. ODLH never got discouraged by counterpunches and was able to walk thru them...manny stops and thinks when he gets punched back as evidenced in his fights with bradley

Pacquiao vs Dela Hoya, Pacquiao vs Antonio Margarito, Pacquiao vs Bambam Rios... Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. won't be any different. Manny Pacquiao's speed kills.

i think bradley's awkwardness was more of a factor.

                  that fool was spastic.
