  • Comments Thread For: Spike TV To Rebroadcast Berto-Lopez This Friday 3/20

It's clear that the brass at Spike TV are pleased with the returns from its inaugural offering of Premier Boxing Champions series. So much that an encore performance is in store.

The March 13 edition was topped by Andre Berto's come-from-behind—if not controversial—6th round stoppage of Josesito Lopez at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California. The show was a smash hit with the home audience and the network, as the latest ratings reveal the main event to have averarged 1 million home viewers, peaking at 1.2 million, both of which are massive numbers for a Spike TV broadcast in that time slot.

Spike TV announced on Wednesday afternoon that an exclusive rebroadcast of the entire card will air Friday, March 20 at 9:00pm ET/PT. [Click Here To Read More]

Why was this fight for an the interim WBA welterweight world title. Neither guy is a top 15 fighter and the belts are never mentioned or shown on the broadcast. My guess is that Haymon just wants to own all the titles so he doesn't have to deal with purse bids.

Lopez is pretty decently sized for a welter he has a height and reach advantage on pretty much every fighter he fights. He is larger than Paulie,Devon Alexander,Pacquiao, and a slew up of other welters.

Maybe they figure a re-run of the fight will match or exceed the ratings of the re-run of COPS?
