  • Comments Thread For: Guerrero Doubts Thurman is Ready For Mayweather

Now that Robert 'The Ghost' Guerrero (32-3-1, 18 KOs) has been in the ring with both Keith 'One Time' Thurman (25-0, 21 KOs) and Floyd 'Money' Mayweather (47-0, 26KOs), the Gilroy boxer was able to give his breakdown of whether or not Thurman is capable of beating Mayweather in a contest.

Guerrero lost to both Thurman and Mayweather, by way of twelve round decision. Both of those contests took place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mayweather outboxed Guerrero for nearly their entire fight, while Thurman made it a war at times and landed some very big punches in several rounds.

Nobody is ready for Floyd. That's why he's been the man for the past two decades.

The last boxer that I can recall being ready for Floyd was a young Jr. Middleweight Roy Jones Jr.

Therman needs maidana or khan, someone of that level. Hes ready for it. Its better for him experience wise as well that he got to go 12 with guerrero vs an early KO, which would have been nice for the fans but got him no experience.

If he gets mayweather, it will be the opportunity and paycheck of a life time. I dont expect pac to beat may and if he doesnt, nobody under 154 is beating may except father time.

                  ^^^^^^This

But seeing as Guerrero is the new presumed Gatekeeper, We will see Mayweather vs Thurman in September for the Welterweight Championship.

I've said it for a while too, one of the few welters that would worry me against Mayweather. It's more to do with his ability to go downstairs and how he commits.
