Comments Thread For: Hagler: Mayweather-Pacquiao Will Be Biggest in History

Marvin Hagler believes the showdown between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will eclipse his fight against Sugar Ray Leonard.

"Whether Pacquiao loses in the first round or whether he knocks out Mayweather in the first round, it's going to be the biggest fight in history," Hagler said this week.

Hagler, now 60, recalled his clash with Leonard in 1987; also in Las Vegas. He lost on a still controversial decision in what was the superfight of its day.

obviously someone was a little excited and posted too fast instead of proof-reading it first.

Hagler fought Leonard in 1987 NOT 1978.. These Boxingscene writers seriously have to step their game up.

            He's right....

This will be the biggest fight yet. I don't think either fighter is close to the peak of their skills, being as old as they are..... That said, they still have enough in their tanks to entertain us all.

On another note..... I still think Hagler won that fight, Underappreciated bodywork !!! But Sugar Ray was coming off the lay off (The detached retina caused him to retire early, a few times.) and was the dog.... Leonard did far better than I expected, just not enough to win that close decision. The judges thought differently..... Too bad Marvelous Marvin retired after that. Woukd have like to see him take a crack at redemption.

Marvin Hagler makes sense, analyzing his statements makes you feel that he wants Pacquiao to win, it's marvelous.
