Jim Lampley was reportedly a bone of contention between HBO and Showtime as the fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao was being negotiated. Lampley has been especially harsh on Mayweather on recent episodes of 'the Fight Game' on HBO.

But on the night of May 2nd, Lampley will be calling the action from ringside with Al Bernstein and Roy Jones. Say what you want about him but he has been the defining blow-by-blow voice for this sport the past generation. A fight of this magnitude needed a Lampley on the call.

Call the punches for the wrong fighter, get hype when there is missed flurry of punches, scream about punches that didn't land.

If a blind person was to listen Lampley call a fight they would think the wrong person is winning.

I'm happy with Jim since Al will be there to keep him in check. Roy is pretty honest about what he's seeing, I hope he's on his A game at times Roy can be a little amateurish but when he's on he's on.

Lampley sucks, calling punches that don't land and always a hater, big right hand, big left hand and that's all he's good at, has a good voice but his knowledge of boxing sucks, i'm glad Bernstein and RJJ are on there, glad kellerman ain't on it, they should've got the Showtime crew and added RJJ

It's crazy how different he can call a fight sometimes.. I like see how Lamps calls it and if I feel he's way off (he usually is) I try to find the UK broadcast or even spanish on yotube its night and day lol
