Comments Thread For: Carl Frampton-Chris Avalos: Post-Fight Report Card

IBF 122 lb. titlist Carl Frampton is a star in Northern Ireland.

He fought like one on Saturday.

Chris Avalos wasn’t the toughest out in the Jr. Featherweight division, but he’d never been stopped. He came to try hard. He was in with a better fighter.

That better fighter looks like he’s still not had his best fight. That should concern everyone else in his division. Frampton is the real deal.

Well, you were one of the posters braying the loudest when Adonis chose to go after bigger money (Hopkins) instead of the tougher fight (Kovalev.)

So I am trying to understand why you aren't criticizing Frampton for doing the same thing. Is it only ok when one of the fighters you like does it? Or how does that work?

Framptons power can surely be classed as A- by now?

            Relative to his weightclass

Stevenson moved to showtime and fought a nobody

Yeah but that was because B-Hop got pissed at the negotiations and ended up fighting Kovalev instead for a smaller purse than the Canadians were offering him.

Up until that point Dirk was screaming that Stevenson was a chicken for chasing the bigger money instead of the better opponent. But now Carl Frampton is doing the same and Dirk doesn't say a thing about it. I'm struggling to understand why he has double standards on this issue.

And for the record I agree with you, Frampton does have A-level power for that weight class.

Quigg is coming off an injury, so I can't see him fighting Frampton next. I hope this is the year Frampton makes his US debut, preferably against LSC. That's a certified SHO main event imo. Problem is I don't see Leo's handlers risking a potential Mares fight. Mares still needs to deal with Gonzalez.

What was the result of the Hopkins-Stevenson fight?
