Lucas "La Maquina" Matthysse and Ruslan Provodnikov are set to go to war in a 12-round junior welterweight showdown on Saturday, April 18 at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, NY. Matthysse (36-3, 34 KOs) vs. Provodnikov (24-3, 17 KOs) will be televised on HBO.

Both fighters are regarded as hard punching, dangerous boxers who take part in very exciting contests. Between the two of them, Matthysse is seen as the better boxer who may use his legs instead of standing in one place to trade power punches.

He will need to be cuz hes in tough with Matthysse....

I think Lucas is every bit the brawler that Provo is & then some...At the end of the day its skill not power or strength that ultimately decide fights when contested by capable, competent boxers...

Matthysse is superior in every measurable category & will be victorious come April 18th....

What it means is there will be a few Roach fighters who won't have the benefit of Freddies wisdom & knowledge as Manny will surely be the main focus of his attention in the coming weeks & months....

Mathysse will be smart. He has the experience and he will ultimately decide if its a good idea to trade or not. I expect him to box and eventually stop Provo. Regardless of what happens, it will be a great fight.

this right here!! i feel the exact same way except for lucas stopping ruslan. i dont think lucas is gonna come out brawling with ruslan. i think he's gonna use more movements and pick his shots and at times brawl but i dont think its gonna be a toe to toe type battle.

I am going with Provodnikov in this fight. Not fully confident but better than sitting on the fence.
I think Matthysse is more likely to quit than Provodnikov. I also don't think Matthysse is going to boxing on the back foot like Chris algieri and hoping for a war!

This could be a very fan friendly fight and good on both accepting the fight. Good to see....
I also don't think we will ever see Garcia vs Matthsse 2 as Garcia will always say that he beat him once and does not need to take that risk again.
