Comments Thread For: Gennady Golovkin Eyes Cotto, All Middleweight Titles

By Jake Donovan - Gennady Golovkin officially kicked off his 2015 in-ring campaign with perhaps the most notable win of his career. In stopping Martin Murray in 11 rounds Saturday evening in Monte Carlo, Golovkin picked up a win against a world class middleweight contender who’d always been competitive at the top level.

Don’t expect it to serve as the final feather in his cap, though.

The plans for 2015 are – aside from intending to fight four times on the year – to collect as many belts as possible. Complete middleweight unification is the hot topic in the Golovkin camp, with sights set on the likes of Andy Lee, Daniel Jacobs and of course the reigning World middleweight champion, Miguel Cotto. I love GGG but Ward is too smart. I have Ward a outboxing and maybe KO GGG. Ward is just too fast and crafty for GGG. If GGG were to lose to AW it wouldn't make him a bum or hype job. I would love to see that fight though.

GGG aint going anywhere near Ward. Ward style is all wrong for GGG. Ward wins a 10-2 type fight. In the other hand GGG will beat Cotto, by wearing him down. Cotto would probably start outboxing GGG for the first 4 or 5 rounds and after that GGG's size and power will take over ending up with Cotto getting TKOd in 11 rounds on a fight that would be virtual tie after 10.

I also give Chavez Jr. a chance at the upset. We need to see how GGG reacts when he cant hurt his opponent, Chavez have a granite chin.

Best outcome for GGG this year is to unify this year and hopefully become undisputed. He has the backing to get the fights made, just need the other champs to man up.

but why? the fight itself would be atrocious. either ward holds for the entire fight and wins a boring decision(think maidana-floyd 2) or golovkin batters him all over the ring because he's not allowed to hold and can't do anything to stop ggg. ward's not the mover type so he really has no chance without the ref.

A win against Cotto gains GGG the ring magazine belt. "A must thing for any World champion"!

The sooner Golovkin can unify at MW, the sooner he moves up. Plain and simple.

ggg is so overrated. As soon as he fights someone who punches back with power it's a wrap. Rosado was hurting him pretty good and he is a b level fighter. Ward would eat this dude. Seriously
