  • Comments Thread For: Marvin Sonsona is Officially on Board With Al Haymon

BoxingScene.com has confirmed that Marvin Sonsona (19-1-1, 15KOs) has officially joined the vast stable of manager/adviser Al Haymon. We reported a few days ago that Sonsona and Haymon were negotiating a potential agreement.

Sonsona becomes the first Filipino fighter to join Haymon Boxing, which handles a stable of 160 to 170 fighters.

Sonsona, 24-years-old and a former world champion, has won five in a row since suffering his only career defeat in 2010 at the hands of Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. He avenged that loss last June with a ten round decision over Vazquez on the Cotto-Martinez undercard from New York's Madison Square Garden.

I predict Sonsona's career to go completely downhill unless Haymon matches him ridiculously.

This kid is gonna get used to Haymon paydays and lose dedication like he already showed he is losing against Vazquez.

Yeah... I mean, the kid was headed down the right path at one point but ended up throwing it all away just to guzzle Red Horse and munch on Sisig 5 fights in 5 years... I like Sonsona but at that rate he'll just end up being another wasted talent.

Fans from last year be like:

"He signed with Al Haymon? Sick, he's going to make good money, get more exposure, get more good fights and if Al Haymon wanted him, he must be good."

Fans from this year be like:

"He signed with Al Haymon? His career will go downhill, wasted talent, he sucks."

Have to wonder how much time he can even dedicate to each fighter because with that quantity, each fighter is just going to feel like a number that has to take a number when they want quality time with Haymon.

165 boxers, 750K average payday, 2 fights per year average: $247,500,000

So how much money did Hymen get from investors again?

***To be fair: let's say $150,000 average payday worst case

$33,000,000 but I know the average will be much higher than that because the entire reason boxers are signing with him is to make "bank".

If you're indirectly making this toward me, you might be just be an idiot and didn't even listen to HBO commentary during his last fight nevertheless even watch his last fight.

When a fighter wants some quality time with Haymon, he is going to say "Please take a number. You are caller number 175 and we are currently processing number 6. Please hang up or call again later.".
