  • Comments Thread For: Porter Interested in Facing Provodnikov-Matthysse Winner

Former welterweight champion Shawn Porter is currently training for his March 13th showdown against Roberto Garcia. Porter, who is trained by his father Ken, said that he is working on boxing more and is working on getting hit less in this camp.

"I like to mix it up but we are working on boxing right now," Porter explained. "I am an aggressive fighter but we want to box him. When I am in the ring my blood boils. That is who I am. I want to be aggressive but I am not trying to prove to Roberto Garcia that I am bigger and stronger than him. I just want to prove to him that he can't beat me."

Porter vs either is a straight up war - Provodnikov would be preferable as far as slugfests go.

If Provo wins the fight is possible given that he is with Banner and has fought at welter before. Pac will probably have first dibs though.

Little chance of Matthysse-Porter given Matthysse is with GBP. Imo LM is too small for welter anyway and Porter is coming down from MW.

LM looks skinny and small, but if i remember correctly, he was around 160 in Garcia fight.

He normally weighs in between 151 and 153. I think he was 157 for Garcia but that was the exception, not the rule.

Any combination of matchups between these three would result in entertaining meaningful fights...

Both are great fights but I feel like Provodnikov would be a better fight.

Doesn't Provodnikov have a contract with HBO to his American fights? Because if he has then that's excluded imo...
More likely Matthysse-Porter. Maybe Haymon can work together at least with Oscar but idk... Matthysse has just gone from Haymon I guess Haymon is salt and doesn't want to work with him.
I except no Porter VS winner of Provo-Matthysse even if both sides want it. Haymon will prevent it.

I would love to see Porter fight the winner, but Provo and Matthysse are both average size junior welters meaning they would be small welterweights. I don't see either of them moving up just to fight a Shawn Porter. Plus I doubt Porter could move down to 140
