Comments Thread For: Felix Sturm To Pass On Vacant Title Fight With N'Dam

Felix Sturm has aspirations of adding at least one more belt to his remarkable career. It just won't be the one immediately within reach.

The former four-time middleweight titlist has declined on the opportunity to face Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam for the vacant IBF middleweight belt. Both camps had until close of business day Monday to inform the IBF of their intentions, but Sturm's mind was made up well before the deadline.

"I will not fight at middleweight, that time is over," Sturm (39-4-3, 18KO) announced on Monday, instead confirming that he will now campaign in the super middleweight division. [Click Here To Read More]

It's amazing for Saunders to get his chance now that WBO gave his mandatory shot to Quillin instead respecting his ranking. N'JIKAM vs Saunders is a good fight but also N'JIKAM vs Lemieux. Sturm impressed me a lot at his first fight as supermiddleweight vs Stieglitz, he looked very strong and comfortable.

          Odd...

Would have thought Sturm would jump at the chance to add another world title belt to his collection in a seemingly winnable fight...but if he can't make the weight then he can't make the weight...Too bad though, would have been an interesting scrap...

I think the Abraham fight is bigger money, possibly an easier fight too given the mesh of styles.

N'Dam/Saunders would be a cracking contest & I'm sure Gary Hyde would welcome it. However I can't see it happening due to Frank Warren's demands!

Yeah, Abraham, Steiglitz, and Sturm triangle for the WBO version can go on for another 3 years.

4 time champion Sturm is going to be 5 time champion real soon. Even the great Ali was only a 3 time champion. Sturm has surpassed him.

Wow, gotta say that is the first time I've seen a career BS paper belt holder considered to have surpassed Ali. I guess Braehmer is the greatest light heavyweight ever too.
