  • Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Mayweather Just Aiming To Retire Unbeaten

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya is very surprised that so many years have passed and there hasn't been a fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

During his time as a fighter, De La Hoya faced just about every possible name in his era - from Ike Quartey, Pernell Whitaker, Felix Trinidad, Bernard Hopkins, Felix Sturm, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., Fernando Vargas, Shane Mosley, Ricardo Mayorga, Mayweather, Pacquiao and many others.

The two sides are still negotiating for a fight on May 2nd, but De La Hoya does not believe Mayweather wants the fight. He thinks Mayweather (47-0) is looking for a few easier fights to get his record to a mark of 50-0 and then he will retire.

Funny how Oscar openly ducked Jose Luis Lopez. He ducked Quartey until Lopez dropped Quartey towards the end of their fight. Never fought Winky, Kostya or Vernon. Not saying that he wasn't brave and did not have a great resume, but I find it funny that he's saying this. I guess Oscar was a cupcake that's why Floyd fought him

De La Hoya is one of Floyd's biggest haters in the world of boxing among Floyd's peers. Which fighter did ODH ever beat in their respective primes?

He lost almost every big fight against another elite; so he really needs to stfu already.

I even had Quartey winning for most of that fight against Oscar. He had a good chance of outpointing Trinidad; instead he got on his bicycle and was afraid to engage the rest of the fight.

Your hate for Oscar is obvious. Oscar fought at better fighters than Floyd has and although he lost most of his big fights he at least had the balls to fight them and not blatantly duck them like floyd

I'm at peace with it. I gave up on the Pac fight this weekend... Possibly they can get a later date, but whatever... . And everybody has already arguably seen Floyd lose before so, whatever with that.

How can he duck a fighter but fight him? Floyd has yet to fight Manny Pacquiao and that has been 7 year already. Oscar fought Quartey you are the definition of reaching, and nobody wanted to see Oscar versus Winky, Kostya or Vernon those fights were not in high demand at all.

So only because Quartey got dropped Oscar fights him lol? well Pacquiao has been knocked out several times, out cold, lost, yet floyd still hasn't shown urgency to fight him and if he does that is 100 times worse than what you are claiming that Oscar did with Quartey because that would mean Floyd really really waited for Pac to slow down and get a few more beatings in to soften him up before takin him.

Floyd has no one else to blame, he left himself open by not making the Pac fight years ago.
