Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Canelo-Chavez is Now Impossible To Make

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya says an all-Mexican battle between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is now an impossible fight to make - because Chavez has moved up by so many weight divisions in the last two years.

At one point the two boxers were only six-pounds apart, with Canelo fighting at junior middleweight and Chavez being a WBC champion at 160-pounds. Chavez started struggling to make 160-pounds in early 2014 and soon made it known that he would start campaigning at super middleweight.

Canelo is not and will not fight at 154 again. He's just got to face reality and officially announce he's a middleweight. Plus Chavez is irrelevent in my book, why should Canelo even waste his time thinking about that fight? JCCJR has a tough test against Fonfara next and gets chopped down by Froch or Ward, if he beats Fonfara.

If Alvarez was truly struggling with his weight, why would he only request a one-pound reprieve? lol.

He fights at 155, because Floyd Mayweather is the WBC and WBA champion at junior middleweight, Demetrius Andrade is the WBO champion at junior middleweight, and Cornelius Bundrage is the IBF champion at junior middleweight.

If Floyd vacates his belts, or Canelo fights Andrade or Bundrage, Alvarez weighs in at 154.

For any other fight, with the leverage to make things a touch more comfortable for himself, Canelo will demand that extra pound.

That would have been an awesome fight. Then Chavez decided he wanted to be HW champion and started fighting at LHW to test the waters.

PERFECT!!! NOW Chavez Can Fight Bernard Hopkins!!!

Actually the undisciplined, head case Chavez Jr. can get a Boxing Lesson and get embarrassed fighting a 50 YEAR OLD Legend, Bernard Hopkins!!! Does Chevez have the sack to take that on??? Bhop might be all over that opportunity, and an easy fight to make happen since both are with GBP.

"Canelo, because of his smaller frame..."

                    Yeah right

As much as he hates to admit, the guys not exactly small and hes obviously outgrown JMW, Canelo reminds me of someone who is self conscious of his weight, dude probably tries to squeeze in clothes a few sizes too small too just as he tries to squeeze in a weight div too small for him.

                    Canelo, youre a fatty!!
