    Comments Thread For: Provodnikov-Matthysse HBO Bound, Network Matches Offer

    Sources with knowledge of the negotiations have advised BoxingScene.com that HBO will secure the mouth watering junior welterweight collision between Lucas Matthysse (36-3, 34KOs) and Ruslan Provodnikov (24-3, 17KOs). The target date is March 28th, The venue has yet to be finalized, with the StubHub Center in Carson and the MGM Grand in Las Vegas being considered.

    HBO had a first and last on Provodnikov. However, up until today the actual network was up in the air because Showtime submitted a lucrative offer . HBO had until Friday to match the offer, which they did.

              Showtime needed this fight badly. They're setup to have an awful year. What fighters fight on showtime? What fights do they have scheduled for this year. I can't think of any marquee fights on the horizon for Showtime.
