Early last month, BoxingScene.com first reported that promoter Gary Shaw had finalized a deal to merge his company with new promotional player Roc Nation Sports. As part of the deal, he brought over the bulk of his stable - including undefeated heavyweight contender Bryant Jennings and middleweight contender Tureano Johnson.

The merger was short-lived. This past Monday, Shaw officially revealed that he parted ways with Roc Nation. The reason for the rapid break was never revealed, but industry sources indicate an internal rift where there were "too many Chiefs and not enough Indians."

yeah, i have a bad feeling this will get in the way of that fight. Even if Jennings wants to be with Roc Nation he should understand he has a once in a lifetime opportunity to fight Klitschko and should just keep quiet until after the fight.

I don't know who the hell Tureano Johnson is, but judging at his recent activity (4 fights in 2014, 1 fight in 2015) inactivity is hardly anything to complain about. Gary Shaw Promotions is a great place to be for him. God knows what is going on with Roc Nation, it all seems a bit odd.

He and Curtis Stevens had a pretty good fight last year but he's nothing more than an mid-carder for small tv cards. He's a good dude though and a straight-shooter if youre on twitter Id recommend following him.

Feel bad for Tureano, he was slated to headline the Fox card in March and seemed excited for it. Had he not taken those low key stay busy fights in the DR & Ba*****, Shaw would've had him on the shelf since July. Hopefully Gary gets him on the April undercard and possibly on HBO.

Shaw's a great talent scout, but lousy promoter. I cringe every time I see a promoter say they 'own' a fighter, or that fighter's their property. I understand there's a financial investment, but at the same time a fighter only has so many years to earn a living and make a mark. There's a reason all the great talent that's passed through Gary Shaw's stable left as soon as possible.
