Former world champion Marcos "El Chino" Maidana (35-5, 31KOs) is still relaxing and enjoying his time away from the ring, according to his close friend and manager Sebastian Contursi. There is a tentative return date being discussed of June 20th, but that is not set in stone.

Maidana has been away from the ring since the twelve round decision loss in his rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr. Chino has stayed very busy, staging three major fights from December 2013 to September 2014, and an obvious rest was needed.

Chino vs Danny is a fight I've never considered but it definitely interests me. If Danny fought Maidana after Peterson (assuming he beats Peterson, which is no given), then that would be some nice steps in the right direction of erasing the embarrassing year that Danny just had.

Maidana v Danny is a good fight, assuming he beats Petersen, which I think he does. But that seems a bit small for Danny imo. He should be a candidate for a Manny fight or being groomed for Floyd.

Good to Chinos relaxing he had a tough 12 months sit back spend time with the family and spend some of that $ hopefully he's just as Hungry when he returns.


Chino/ Garcia I like that match up. I know before Matthysse , Angel said they were targeting Maidana when Danny moves up so it looks like both sides would be interested.
