  • Comments Thread For: Kevin Mitchell: My Career, My Childen's Future is at Stake

Kevin Mitchell knows the stakes could not be higher after making weight for his WBC lightweight championship eliminator against Daniel Estrada later today. Winning the WBC Silver lightweight title will see Mitchell earn a second - and possibly last - world title shot, but he believes the fight has greater significance.

Mitchel has shown glimpses of real skill. But he has problems with pressure... Even RIcky Burns, who is far from a power puncher, bullied Mitchell back, and aired him out.

I honestly think Mitchell would be better off at 130.

His speed advantage might see him through with Estrada, but there's no way he's beating Figueroa, while limited himself, will simply use his height and reach to gan leverage while walking Mitchell down...

I don't understand what happened with Kevin against Burns.

Kevin is better than Ricky Burns. I can't believe he got beat let alone stopped and looked awful against a man he has probably sparred with more than any other fighter.

Kevin is classy. He can fight.

Mitchell has struggled to stay dedicated to training, he's been in a bit of trouble outside the ring. He comes from a drug dealing family.

He's just proof that talent alone isn't enough. The way he rallied to stop Maduma showed real ability and heart. He just needs to stay dedicated and out of trouble.

You're right, he is a more naturally talented fighter than Burns.

Burns was big for the weight and super fit for that fight

I've always been a big Mitchell fan and if he is focused he can show moments of brilliance

Hope he does a number on him tonight he has the talent maybe just needs more belief

That is what all it comes down to, I mean he didn't make the weight for his IBF eliminator either, highly irritating for his fans. It will be unbelievable if he couldn't win a World title.

That really irked me when he lost to Burns. It would've been something if he had won the belt off Burns in Scotland.

Great win for Mitchell. He really put it all out on the line tonight.

                  Estrada took a beating.
