According to former WBO heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs, a deal is in place to face division king Wladimir Klitschko later this year. Klitschko is set to defend the WBO, IBF, IBO and WBA titles against undefeated Bryant Jennings at New York's Madison Square Garden on April 25th. Briggs claims the fight with Klitschko will happen on a date in in September, with Hamburg being mentioned as the location of choice.

I hope not. Part of me wants to see the entertainment of the buildup, followed by Brigs being quickly dispatched by a right hand/left hook combination.

But it would disgrace boxing, and give Wilder nuthuggers excuses to support him continuing to fight bums.

Hopefully the fight comes through with teh next best challenger (well, aside from Fury, and Wilder) - Jennings.

Briggs mentioned on instagram that he too (like Wlad) will be taking a "tune up". I hope Briggs fights in South Florida and they, IDK who even promotes Briggs lol, put up a decent card to bring some fights to S FL.

AFTERWARDS, if he actually ends up fighting Wlad I would be shocked. Vitali beat the dog **** out of this man, I mean really, what's left to do?

I'll give Briggs for getting in shape...though I can't help but feel like he may have had some extra help.

Does anyone know if Briggs has other revenue streams? He seems to be doing well and stays shopping @ Whole Foods

I can't believe Klitschko will disgrace himself by fighting old Briggs.

There are many others who would be worthier opponents, on the top of that list are Wilder and Fury.

I personally wouldnt count him out. Dude is in great shape. Wether or not that will help him or not is yet to be seen, but i think he has a shot. I smell a upset lurking.
Id love to see Wilder and Fury get it on first and the winner fight Wald. Or Briggs...lol
