Comments Thread For: Arum Calls Mayweather-Cotto II Talk 'Absolute Nonsense'

If the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Manny Pacquiao fight cannot be made, despite supposed progress in negotiations, Bob Arum doesn’t consider a rematch between Mayweather and Miguel Cotto to be a viable alternative.

Pacquaio’s promoter was a guest Tuesday night on SiriusXM’s “Going The Distance,” co-hosted by Wally Matthews and Teddy Atlas each Tuesday night from 6-8 p.m. ET (Sports Zone Channel 92). When Matthews asked about the possibility of Mayweather fighting Cotto again, Arum dismissed the idea as “absolute nonsense” because CBS, Showtime’s parent company, would lose too much money on that pay-per-view fight.

Go ahead Bob derail the Mayweather Pacquiao fight. Just shut up for 1 week. Let the less obnoxious negotiators do the talking.

No ****. If it doesn't happen, it's Khan getting the Mayweather fight. Not Cotto. While Pacquiao fights Lucas or Provo or some other ****ty fight. Basically, this fight has to happen.

You sound so positive? Khan-Floyd imo, just like you gave your opinion on khan getting the mayweather fight, will be a flop. Wasn't floyd the one that said that khan isnt anybody (or something closely remote to that)?

How does giving an Interview and an opinion on Mayweather/Cotto 2 sabotage negotiations for a Pacquiao/Mayweather fight?

Top Rank Inc., Arum’s company, has promoted Cotto for most of his 14-year pro career and now works with the Puerto Rican star on a bout-by-bout basis. Top Rank would not be involved in a Cotto-Mayweather rematch

                All i needed to read.

Damn the fight is coming but Arum is still a snake

He seems good at dealing with numbers and he has a point.

I didnt watch pac vs algieri and im not gonna watch floyds next fight if its not against pac. All other fights for floyd between 147-154 are bull****.

Bob's right. Cotto-Mayweather would be a significant financial hit for Showtime and thats why Moonves is personally involved trying to get the Pacquiao fight done.
