Round by Round Coverage; Hasim Rahman vs. James Toney

The big men take center stage Atlantic City, as WBC heavyweight champion Hasim "The Rock" Rahman (41-4, 33KOs) defends his title against James "Lights Out" Toney (69-4, 43KOs). Rahman looks to take Toney out by using his power, while Toney looks to use his superior hand speed to outwork the bigger man.

Both fighters have seen their shining moments turn to nightmares. Rahman knocked Lennox Lewis out in 2001 for the heavyweight crown, only to lose it a few months later when Lewis knocked him out within four rounds. The loss to Lewis started a three fight losing streak for Rahman, which resulted in several years of constant activity to get himself back in mix. Most don't feel he is the true champion because he never beat the fighter most considered as the top, Vitali Klitschko. [details]

My two favorite heavyweights of all time, baby. Whoever wins, I win. Kinda wish they'd divided and conquered first and this was a unification bout.

Man, are you kidding. I love watching Rahman fight. I believe he's the only guy who's been at the very top and the very bottom, back and forth his whole career. He's a truly great fighter, but he is also the most unfortunate fighter I've ever seen. He beat David Tua twice and has no win to show for it. He knocked out Lennox Lewis in my all time favorite boxing moment (other than Corrales' rally against Castillo) only to be knocked out by the hardest punch I've ever seen land in a title fight in the rematch. I had him ahead of Holyfield and Maskaev before those freak accident losses. I think he's cool as hell and just a great fighter who's caught the baddest of breaks, but he's come back every time and here he is again, fighting for the heavyweight championship once again. Remember, Rahman was the legitimate heavyweight champion of the world in 2001. There are no other current heavyweights fighting who have been the heavyweight champion of the world that I know of. Unless I've missed someone.
